Our landscape design clients and Longmont, Colorado homeowners were looking for a low-maintenance landscape design to create that dining in the garden feeling. We incorporated existing plants, improved their outdoor living area, and created some privacy from their carriage house. We worked alongside Rock N Roll Stoneworks to create a seamless transition from the client’s outbuilding to dining among the herbs the vegetable gardens.
Project Goals

» Downsize the existing garden bed (that originally was the entire courtyard) and build garden beds that would be used
» Keep the existing courtyard wall but make it feel more inviting for guests.

- We utilized the garage doors to seamlessly transition the indoors to buff flagstone that weaves through the planting space. A large picnic table provides a dining and thinking space for a group. We placed the dining towards the west end of the patio to capture the views of the Boulder Flatiorns.
To downsize the existing garden bed (that originally was the entire courtyard) and build garden beds that would be used »
- We placed three raised cedar garden boxes that the clients can use for herbs and veggies.
To keep the existing courtyard wall but make it feel more inviting for guests »
- The design incorporates plants that help cozy up the space to add height, texture and fragrance. The addition of stairs and custom metal gates to the south end of the wall opens up the space while adding a custom detail to tie into the home’s old-world aesthic.
